Hey everyone,

This letter will probably be kind of short, I need to go downstairs to finish my laundry.
But thank you for the e-mails and everything.  I really appreciate them.  Sounds like everything is going pretty well.

We're getting ready to go to the temple this morning.  The plan was to eat at the temple, but we decided to eat here instead.  Maybe next week I'll eat at the temple.  I hear it's pretty good as well, Curt.
Aunt Kathy sent me banana bread! that was really nice!  I didn't expect it coming so when I saw I received a package I was wondering who would send me one.  But there is 2 loafs of it! I love banana bread so that was awesome.  I'll have to write her back soon.

That's good that Jess is getting to go to a new area.  Even though she loved the Ponderosa ward, she will probably love the new one she is in.  She is amazing. The new ward she goes to will love her.

Well its about that time.

Hey Everyone!

Yes, I did get the package on Wednesday, I think.  Thank you so much for that!
I put the letter for the bank in the mail the other day.
Hahaha- what the.  Why did Curt have to wear a dress at school?  Just for the assembly?
That's way weird.  There is no way I would ever do that!
My leg is doing better now.  I didn't go to see anyone for it, I just babied it for a while and now
I can run on it.  I actually ran the mile in 6 minutes the other day which was pretty cool considering
I haven't ran in like 5 months.  But they have a bunch of records in the gym.  The record for free throws made in a row is like 49 and 3 pointers is 12.  I made 11 3's in a row the other day,
so I think I can beat that.  It get frustrating though because after you make like 5 or 6 and miss,
it throws you off. But oh well.
My zone leader Elder Moli is the one who made the 12-3 Pointers.  He is way cool.
He is leaving on Sunday though.  I'll attach a picture of me and him.  Actually more than half my zone is leaving within this week.  We have about 22 missionaries in our zone right now and 12 are leaving!
The wall looks good! I didn't recognize it for a minute.
Here is a little Fijian:
Bula Vinaka!
Sa vakacava tiko? (How are you?) Vinaka tiko! (i'm Good)
Au mai missouri. (I'm from Missouri)
Au yambaki rua sagavulu. (I'm 20)
Na tama i keimami vakalomalagi (dear heavenly father)
E na yaca i Jisu Karisito, emeni. (In the name of Jesus Christ, amen)
Au via wasea na noqu ivakadinadina (I would like to share my testimony)
Tamada Vakalomalagi (Heavenly Father)
vosa vakviti (Fijian)
vosa vakalagi (English)
I know more, but for the sake of time I'll cut it short.

Thanks for everything! Love you guys!

This is all the toys we found in our "narnia hole."
Haha- it was in that air vent.

Hey everyone!

Yes, I actually saw Daagel on Wednesday when you dropped me off! But I see him at breakfast, lunch and dinner a lot too. So that's good. We took a picture together next to the map so I'll try to figure out how to send it. Not quite sure how to do that yet, another Elder said you have to have a special cord or something... but I went to the book store last week to get it and she said that the one I have should work.. I don't know. I guess we will see.

The MTC is great, Curt- they have so much food, you will never go hungry.  Except maybe after dinner, I get hungry like an hour before bed, so I go to the vending machines and grab some things.
We play basketball just about everyday haha. But my knee is kind of hurting from when we went snowboarding and I fell and when I run on it, it kind of flares up. So I'm trying to stay off of it. Alli- Fiji is the best! The language is kind of weird, but its kind of easy to learn.  I don't know how to explain it.  It's a lot of fun. My teachers are awesome! And I cannot wait to go to Fiji! Jane- Yeah, the MTC is awesome! Guess what.. They have steak.. I've had it twice already haha.  It's actually pretty good too.

That's great about Taylor and Kara's baby! Like 21 weeks left? I didn't get a chance to head over to the front of the MTC on Saturday to see if I could see you helping move Taylor and Kara. We are really busy. The first class I had, our teacher talked only in Fijian!  It was crazy!  But we are getting to the point where we can understand some of what they say so that's good.  I can now bear my testimony, pray and a couple of other things in Fijian! It is awesome!  I love it.  One of our teachers had made a challenge for us to bear our testimony in Fijian 15 times before Saturday afternoon (and that was yesterday), but I told him to make it 20 haha.  I'm at 8 right now, so I better step on it.

That's good that the wall is getting fixed. Is Curt the Slave of Sabi again? (Or however you say it.) That's good that the cow was good, I wish I could try it, oh well, you'll probably have some left when I get back right? Well its nice to hear from you!  Thanks for everything.  I'll look for the package!

Loloma iko!(love you!)

Below are pictures of me and my companion, one of Daagel and I, one of me at the temple and I the other one is my zone's badges at the temple last week.
There's also one of the first day the sun has been out since I have been here!

February 7, 2014~1st Mission Letter..... Called to be District Leader

Hey Everybody!

The MTC is SO great! I love it here.  My companion's name is Elder Childers, he is from Preston, Idaho which is where Napoleon Dynamite was filmed... isn't that weird?  It's kind of funny though, too.  He said the high school looks the same in the movie.

I think I might have lost my journal that had all the people who I was planning on e-mailing in it.  So hopefully I can find it.  My p-day's are on Friday, so we went to the temple this morning and that was really good.  It was a great way to start the day.

There are a lot of polynesians in my zone. There are 2 districts from the people in my zone that are going to Fiji. In one zone there are 4 elders and in the zone I'm in we have my companion, me and 3 sisters.
I was made District Leader yesterday which was pretty cool.  I guess they didn't really have a big group of missionaries to choose from though, but I'm happy i was called.
I don't think I'll need that blanket, Julie. Thank you though! I didn't really sleep on Wednesday night. I couldn't really get comfortable for some reason, or that I was just really excited to be here.

Sorry I didn't write much, I'm kind of in a hurry to email right now. I took a couple of pictures today, but I'll try to send them next week.

Thursday

February 5, 2014~ the big day!

The big day arrived for Clayton to be off to the MTC
(Mission Training Center) to begin his mission.

The night before (Tues., Feb. 4th) we met with our Stake President,
President Monsen for Clayton to be set apart as a missionary.
President Monsen read some great scriptures to Clayton from Luke 22 and D&C 31.
He gave Clayton great advice and counsel.  The spirit was strong.
He blessed Clayton and his family that they would be protected and watched over during
his service and that he would have divine help during his service as a missionary in Fiji.
We went to Ideal Dairy after for ice cream treats, then went home, read scriptures, had prayer
and talked about the special night with President Monsen.
Then Clayton and Curt ran down to the playroom for their last ping pong matches before Clayton left.
Clayton usually wins, but Curt wanted one last chance to try to beat him!
Curt will be off on his mission when Clayton gets back, so they won't see each other for 3 1/2 years.

Wed. morning (Feb. 5th) after breakfast before leaving for the MTC.
The kids had to say good bye after breakfast because they had a lot going on at school.

We met Federico Leguizamon (one of the missionaries who taught Clayton the gospel and baptized him in St. George) for lunch at Tucanos before going to the MTC.
It was nice to have him there.  He gave Clayton a lot of great advice for his mission.

Pictures at the Provo, Utah temple before going to the MTC.

At the Missionary Training Center......just about to go!

And he's off!  We're going to miss him, but we know he will be a great missionary.

Please everyone-
write Clayton often and give him support and encouragement.
